Colorado Springs, especially the Cheyenne Mountain District, is well served by Public Schools which have achieved the top rating of 10 out of 10 at all grades.

The top five public schools in Colorado Springs have all achieved the highest possible rating of 10 out of 10 with four out of the five achieving a Community rating of four out of five stars and the fifth getting five out of five.

The Cheyenne Mountain District of Colorado Springs is served by four geat public schools with them all ranked the highest and Cheyenne Mountain Elementary School gaining 5 out of 5 stars from the local community.

Academy International Elementary School serves grades PK-5 and has 740 pupils. It is a dynamic inspirational Baccalaureate World School and educates every student to be a principalled lifelong learner through a rigorous enquiry-based curriculum integrating national and international standards of excellence in a safe and nurturing environment.

It is an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme Authority School and it challenges the students to make a reflective, meaningful contribution to their diverse global society.

Broadmooor Elementary School is one of the successful schools in the Cheyenne Mountain District 12. Founded in 1956 it caters for grades K-6 and has 317 pupils. It sits in the shadows of Cheyenne Mountain in trhe South West part of Colorado Springs and the Broadmoor staff believe that a student's social and emotional well-being is just as important as the adacemic side of their education. There is a strong sense of inclusive community at the school that involves students, parents and staff.

It is their vision that Broadmoor Elementary School should be a learning community where high school and academic standards are expected to be met. Students and staff are focused on the school slogan "Every day I am Respectful, Responsible, Prepared, Proud and Kind."

Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy is a tuition-free Colorado Springs Charter School that serves students from across the Pikes Peak Region. The CMCA was named as Best in the Springs 2011 in the Colorado Springs Gazette.

It is the Charter Elementary School that serves grades K-6 that achieved the 10/10 rating and it currently has 746 pupils. The school utilizes Direct Instruction and the Core Knowledge curriculum to achieve student mastery.

Pupils are taught in a fast-paced, highly interactive, teacher-directed manner and are expected to learn specific facts and skills at each grade level.

Cheyenne Mountain Elementary School is the school that not only achieved 10 out of 10 from the Education Authority, it also received 5 out of 5 stars from the local community.

Catering for grades K-6 it has 338 pupils and a plethora of Awards including Blue Ribbon School Winner 2006 and the John Irwin School of Excellence every year since 2004-2005.

It has an Accountability and Accreditation Committee made up of administrators, parents and citizens within the school community which serves as an advisory panel to its District counterpart.

Extracurricular activities include several elementary intramural sports programmes including boys and girls basketball, boys handball and girls volleyball.

Their mission is to provide an excellent, engaging and empowering education in a safe learning environment every day, in every setting for every CME student.

Cheynne Mountain High School is the only high school in the Cheyenne Mountain School District. It serves grades 9-12 and currently has 1342 students. It has a large campus with several buildings including a recreational center, library, cafeteria and an arts building.

The school mascot is an Indian wearing the traditional headress and it has a high musical standard with symphonic and jazz bands, several choirs and capella groups.

It also enjoys a rich tradition in athletic success with several boys and girls teams and individual being regular State Championship contenders in a variety of sports.

Brandon McCarthy, the major league basketball pitcher is a former pupil as is cellist Johann Sebastian Paetsch.
